Fractured

In the cavern where my faith lies still,

an aggregate soul resides;

A pummeled shield inured by doubt,

tends to scattered lives;

In the years of innocence,

life was imbued with trust;

Then came the kiss upon the brow,

the first of aberrant lust;

Thus when the dark days came,

a oneness was no more;

Fractures in time and space,

shrouds the fragile core;

Now lurking in an unseen haven,

splintered beings abide;

Lingering signs tell the tale,

the core had gone to hide;

Although the dark days are long past,

the terror is alive;

The tender mind still bears the scars,

and struggles to survive.
